Secondary Madd is the second type of Madd, as we mentioned. Al-Madd is divided into natural Madd, and secondary Madd. The Secondary Madd is also called al-Madd al-Farei.
Secondary Madd due to hamza: It is applied when the letter of Madd is followed by a hamza either in the same word or in the next word. As following: (يتسآئلون) As you can see, the letter(س )has a fat-ha, and followed by (آ)which is a letter of Madd “Alif”, which is followed by a hamza (ئ).(السمآء) The letter (م )has a fat-ha, and is followed by (آ)Which is Alif Madd and is followed by (ء). These two previous examples are called “Madd Waajib Muttasil”, as the letter of Madd and the hamza comes in the same word. But if the letter of Madd and the hamza came in two successive words, where the letter of Madd comes at the end of a word and the hamza comes at the beginning of the next word, it is called “Madd Jaa’ez Munfasil”, as in (ربنا آتنا)here, the letter ( ن )in the word (ربنا)has a fat-ha and is followed by (ا)which is Alif Madd at the end of the word, and is followed by a hamza (آ)at the beginning of the next word. Another type of the secondary Madd caused by the presence of a hamza, is “Madd Assila Alkubra”, which is applied when a possessive pronoun which has kasrah or dammah at the end of a word is followed by a hamza in the beginning of the next word. In this case the dammah or kasrah on the possessive pronoun will be extended into Waaw and Yaa’, As in (يراهُ أ حد) in this word the pronoun (هُ )has a dammah at the end of the word (يرا هُ)and followed by hamza (أ )At the beginning of the next word.(أحد), so the dammah here is pronounced as a letter of Madd Waaw like (يراهُ و أ حد)where( و )Is the place of Madd and is not written. Secondary Madd due to sukoon: It is applied when a shaddah or sukoon comes after the letter of Madd in the word, as in (الحآقة) in this word, the letter (ح )has a fat-ha, and is followed by a letter of Madd (آ)which is followed by a letter with shaddah (ق ). This type of Madd due to shaddah is called “The compulsory heavy Madd in a word”. Another example of Madd due to sukoon, is “The compulsory light Madd in word”, as in, (آلْن) in this word you can see a letter of Madd )آ(,is followed by a letter with sukoon (لْ). There is another type of Madd due to sukoon, it is called “Madd with presented sukoon”, and it is applied if there is only one letter after the letter of Madd, and it is the last letter in the word, this letter has a vowel, put it is pronounced with sukoon if we stop after this word, otherwise, the letter is pronounced with its vowel, so this sukoon is called “presented sukoon” as it is not written on the word. As in, (المُفلِحُوُن) in this word, the letter (و)is followed by the letter ( نْ) which could have a sukoon if we stop after pronouncing this word and in this case the letter (و)is a letter of Madd “Waaw”. But if we will continue after pronouncing this word the letter ( ن ) will have a fat-ha, and in this case the letter ( و)is not a letter of Madd. so in case of (continuing) it is pronounced (المفلحوونْ)where (و)is the place of Madd and is not written. and in case of (stopping) it is pronounced (المفلحو ن)without Madd. The last type of Madd due to sukoon is “Madd Al-leen” And it is applied if the letter before the letter of Madd is with fat-ha vowel, while the letter of Madd is either Waaw or Yaa’, and followed by only one letter in the word which is the last letter in the word and has a presented sukoon, as in: (نوم) here, the letter (ن ) has a fat-ha, and is followed by (و) letter which is followed by only one letter in the word (م)which may have a sukoon in the case of stopping after this word, and in this case the letter (و)is a letter of Madd “Waaw”. But if we will continue after this word, the letter (و)will have a Tanween, and in this case the letter (و)is not a letter of Madd. So it is pronounced as following: (نومٌ) without Madd in the case of (continuing), Or(نوومْ)where (و )is The place of Madd and is not written. This shortcode LP Profile only use on the page Profile
