The importance of learning Quran for kids:

Quran is the base on which all Muslims build their faith and it is their main guide regarding all worldly matters. And also, Muslims consider Quran as their road to paradise. For kids, it is important for them to learn Quran to instill in them the values and doctrines of Islam from a young age.

Basics of learning Quran for kids:

Reading Quran is not the same as reading any other book, it has its own basics that the kid should learn, which is connected to learning Arabic language. The Quran has been revealed to prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), according to seven ahruf (letters), which are the rules of well-defined readings that encompass all kind of phonetic pronunciations of all Arabia. The Quran has a science, when learning it, there are tones to scrupulously respect, to be able to chant it properly. The Quran has seven readings too, Ibn’Amir, Ibn Kathir, Nafi’, A’ssim, Hamza, Abu’amr, and Al-Kassai.

Do we have to learn Quran for kids in Arabic?

Kids can learn to read Quran in any other language that they can read fluently, and they will understand the meanings of the Quran, but learning Arabic language makes them feel its linguistic miracles more better, because that was the language of revelation. And the Arabic can’t be translated word for word into English, it wouldn’t make sense. So all translator translate the meaning of the Quran to make sense to the reader.

Allah, the Almighty said:

( Verily, We have sent it down as an Arabic Quran in order that you may understand ) Youssif, Ayah,2. However, if it is difficult for the kid to learn Arabic, don’t let that stop him, go straight to the translated version of Quran in the language he understand.

How to learn Quran for kids:

There are a lot of courses which are specially designed for the beginners and are suitable for children from the age of 5 years too. These courses teach students the etiquette of reading the Quran, and that they should be clean and proceeding Qibla before starting reading the holy Quran, and not to be distracted by anything and to focus only on reading Quran, The student at first, practices reading a lot of examples and verses from Quran, and by the end of one of these courses, he will be able to read Quran, and be ready for his next step in his journey to learn Quran, which is reading Quran with Tajweed. The time that one needs to learn Quran for kids, starting from learning the basics of Arabic language and the basics of the Quranic Arabic, till learning the Quran recitation and tajweed, is based on the kid’s learning capability, focus, and continuation.
