Tafseer Surat Al-Baqara

Surat Al-Bqara is the longest Surah in Quran, and is the second Surah in the arrangement of the Holy Quran, However, Surat Al-Baqara is the first Surah revealed in Medina. Muslims based on Surat Al-Baqara in their modern constitutions, as it contains many legislative provisions.

Reason of the name “Al-Baqara”:

The word of “Al-Baqara” means ” The cow”, and this is due to the miracle that happened during the time of the messenger of Allah Moses –peace be upon him- , when a Jewish man was killed and the suspicions took place around some men, and they raised the matter to Moses, who complained about the matter to his Lord, and Allah revealed to him to slaughter a cow, and to take something from it and hit the slain with it, then he will wake up and tell about who killed him.

Explanation and interpretation of verses of Surat Al-Baqara:

{Alif, Lam, Mem}

Surat Al-Bqara began with the a broken word, { Alif, Lam, Mem} which is in itself an evidence that prophet Muhammad –peace and blessings be upon him- is a prophet from Allah the Almighty, as prophet Muhammad was uneducated, it means that he don’t know the names of the letters, so from where did he know the name of theses letters if it was not revealed to him from Allah the Almighty? {That book has no doubt about, the guidance of the righteous;

That:

It refers to a distant thing, which indicates the majesty of Quran beyond the awareness of the human.

Book:

Here Allah the Almighty described the Noble Quran as “book” not “Quran” why??? As we all know, every word in Quran was placed for a reason, here The word “book” in Arabic, means that it is written, and the word “Quran” in Arabic means that it is read. So the selection of the word “book” refers to that it is written down in the lines and that it remains and preserved until the day of Resurrection, not only memorized in hearts. And this is a distinction for the Holy Quran from all the heavenly books that were revealed before it, which have been entrusted to humans who forgot some of them, so distortion and alteration reached to these former heavenly books.

No doubt about:

The miracle in the Noble Quran is in the facts and the stories of the former prophets and nations that was told to us between its lines, and in what it brought from science that humanity did not know and still does not yet know. All of this, beside being preserved by Allah the Almighty, make the Quran Undoubted and is truly beyond doubt.

The guidance:

The Guidance is from Allah because it is he who determined the purpose of creation and guided us on the path that leads to it, as this is the pinnacle of grace because he didn’t leave us to define our goals nor our path to it. Note that Allah the Almighty said “guidance” not “guide”, because the guide may make even a small mistake, but the guidance is the certain right.

For the righteous:

Who are the righteous? and is the guidance is specific for them? Righteous are those who want to avoid evil, they fear God’s torment and God’s anger. However Quran is a guidance for every one; who want to fear God, will find in it the way to his goal. And also those who don’t want that, Quran is still a guidance for them, but they don’t want! But He the Almighty singled out those who believed in him with another goal which is to help them to obey and worship. Here we must understand that the guidance of Allah is two types: Guidance of indication, and it is for all people. Guidance of help, and it is for those who believe and want to go in the right path.
