Names of Allah

In Islam, it is believed that there are 99 Names of Allah, named ” Asmaa’ Allah Al-Housna” and Muslims pray to Allah by his names. Names of Allah refer to his unique characteristics and abilities. And because knowing Names of Allah is part of our faith, it is incumbent on us to talk about them in this article. Why does Allah the Almighty has 99 names? Prophet Muhammad –peace and blessings be upon- said: {God has ninety-nine names, who counted them, entered Paradise}. As we mentioned, Names of Allah refer to his characteristics, and because of the multiplicity of his characteristics and attributes, his names was multiplied. This multiplicity of the names of Allah provides the opportunity for Muslims to live between their meanings and feel them, in every single situation in their life; if Muslim is in bliss, he may thank Allah by his name (Al-Razzak), which means the creator of livelihood, the reason for livelihood, and the destiny of livelihood. And if Muslim is in distress, he prays to Allah by his name (Al-Raof), which means who desires goodness for all his servants and facilitates things for them and relieves them from every things, and so on.

The virtue of Names of Allah:

Knowing Names of Allah increases the Muslim’s knowledge of his God and his attributes, by thinking of the meanings of these names, and feeling the power of Allah the Almighty, and thus mastering his worship of God to be elevated to his majesty. Besides that, using Names of Allah is a reason for Allah the Almighty to respond to the supplication, as prophet Muhammad -peace and blessings be upon him- used to pray to Allah by his names. Allah the Almighty said in Surat Al-Aa’raf : {And to God be well-named, so call him with it}.

Some Names of Allah and their meanings:

*Al- Twab: which means “The Repentance” who repents for his servants, and he forgives them whenever they sin. *Al- Hafeez: which means “The Protector” who protects the human, the earth, the heavens, the planets, and the whole universe from any malfunctions. *Al-Hakim: which means “The Wise” who puts things in their right places, and he does only the right. *Al-Rahman: which means “The Merciful” who is merciful to all his servants in everything.

-{Our Lord accept from us, you are the *Hearer, the *Knower} -{Our Lord, and make us Muslims for you, and make from our descendants a Muslim nation for you, and show us our dwelling and let us repent, you are The* Twab, The* Most Merciful}. -{Our Lord, don’t turn our hearts away after you have guided us, and give us mercy from you, you are The* Wahab} -{My Lord, I have been touched with harm and you are the most *Merciful}. -{Lord, forgive me and give me a property not given to anyone after me, you are The* Wahab} -{I leave my affair to God that Allah is *Baseer of servants}.
